We recently test rode the latest iteration of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India’s highest-selling product, the Activa. Here are excerpts of the review through a detailed image gallery.
The new Honda Activa 6G looks similar to its predecessor. A closer inspection, however, reveals that the handlebar cowl, front apron and the rear panels have received styling tweaks. The Activa 6G also gets an external fuel filler cap, engine start-stop switch and a silent starter system.
Bigger upgrades come in the form of telescopic front forks instead of single-sided trailing-link suspension. A 12-inch front wheel replaces the 10-inch unit that was seen on the Activa 5G.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has gotten rid of a few features that were previously seen on the Activa 5G. The base variant, for example, misses out on a LED headlight. Moreover, the base and the top variants miss out on a semi-digital instrument cluster, and they instead use analogue units.
The BS6 compliant Honda Activa makes marginally lower power and torque output figures. The BS6 iteration of the scooter makes 7.6bhp and 8.79Nm as against 8bhp and 9Nm on the BS4 model. The engine feels refined until you cross 60kmph, post which you can feel negligible vibrations from the footboard.
In terms of handling, the new Honda Activa 6G feels noticeably agile than its predecessor. The ride quality, too, is substantially plusher.
The Activa 6G misses out on features such as front storage pockets, under-seat light and USB charger, even as an option
The new Honda Activa, currently sold with the 6G suffix, is priced at Rs 63,912 (ex-showroom), which is about Rs 8,000 more expensive than its predecessor, the Activa 5G.
