Trademark applications for Royal Enfield Flying Flea and Roadster filed

- The trademark applications have been filed for use on motorcycles, parts and fittings

Royal Enfield has filed trademark applications for ‘Royal Enfield Flying Flea’ and ‘Royal Enfield Roadster’ names with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. The trademark applications were filed for the use on motorcycles, parts and fittings. The company had previously paid homage to the Royal Enfield RE/WD 125 ‘Flying Flea’ motorcycles with its limited-edition Classic 500 Pegasus series. The 500cc motorcycle was limited to just 1,000 units, of which 250 bikes were reserved for the Indian market.

The new Flying Flea from Royal Enfield may feature World War Two motorcycle-inspired paint theme and graphics. The Roadster, on the other hand, may compete in the urban-segment. The two motorcycles may enter in different displacement segments.

Spy images of the Royal Enfield Meteor revealed the “J1-349” code on the engine. The “J1” indicates the architecture while the “349” could be a sign of engine displacement. Royal Enfield will have four new platforms – J, P, Q and K. The J architecture will be used on the entry-level Royal Enfield models.

The next-generation Royal Enfield range is yet to reach production. Spy images have revealed that the next-generation models are very close to entering production. While the official launch/unveiling details are yet to be announced, we may see the new models by mid- to late-2020.
