Suzuki Hayabusa BS4 sold out; no BS6 update in the offing

- 2020 Suzuki Hayabusa BS4 sold out in India

- Was launched in limited numbers

- Next-generation Hayabusa likely to be in the works

Suzuki had launched the 2020 edition of its iconic sports tourer, the Hayabusa, in December last year. The company had brought the new model in limited numbers in India which, according to the dealers, have now been sold out across the country. Notably, the 2020 BS4 model marked the demise of the current-generation Hayabusa and a BS6-updated version is unlikely to be in the pipeline.

The Suzuki Hayabusa didn’t comply with Euro4 emission norms which resulted in its termination in the European markets in 2019. However, the motorcycle still adhered to India’s BS4 regulations which continued its journey in the country as a completely knocked down model. The 2020 iteration of the Hayabusa only received a pair of new colours and revised front brake caliper with the pricing remaining the same as the previous version, at Rs 13.74 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Suzuki Hayabusa Front Right Three-Quarter

The Hayabusa holds a special place in the motorcycle fraternity across the globe owing to the fact that it was the first production bike to exceed a top speed of 300kmph. This feat achieved by the Busa made the European and Japanese two-wheeler manufacturers come to an agreement of limiting the top speed of all of their high-performance motorcycles to 300kmph. Also, it was the only large displacement sports tourer available in the market, until Kawasaki pulled the wraps off the Ninja ZX14R in 2006.

The Busa fans would be glad to know that although it was the end of the road for the existing model, Suzuki is likely to be working on a next-generation version of the sports tourer. What makes us look forward to it are reports that it will get a turbocharged engine with a larger displacement than the existing 1,300cc. It could also get a much sharper styling, new chassis and dual transmission option including manual and semi-automatic. That sounds like good times lie ahead. Stay tuned to BikeWale.
