- 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS India launch on 25 March
- Heavily updated version over its predecessor
- To be priced more than the outgoing model worth Rs 11.13 lakhs
Triumph has officially confirmed that its middle-weight naked streetfighter, the 2020 Street Triple RS, will be launched in India on 25 March. The new model is a majorly updated version over its predecessor. We rode the 2020 model on the beautiful roads of Spain and around the Circuito Cartagena race track in October last year. You can read about our experience here.
The RS is the top-spec variant of the Street Triple which also comes in S and R trims. The 2020 edition looks more aggressive than the previous model, essentially due to a redesigned front fascia which looks more aggressive now. It retains the bug-like twin headlamp set up but with a sleeker design. The fuel tank and its extensions, radiator guards, belly pan and tail section have also been given a subtle nip and tuck.
The new Street Triple RS continues to be powered by a 765cc, in-line three cylinder engine which produces 121bhp at 11,750rpm and 78.6Nm of torque. Triumph has tweaked the engine for more refinement and better mid-range performance. The engine continues to be mated to a six-speed gearbox but it has been updated with a quick shifter now. It also comes equipped with a new Bluetooth-enabled TFT instrument cluster, four riding modes and traction control.
Being the top-spec version, the RS also gets premium cycle parts such as fully-adjustable upside-down forks from Showa at the front, Ohlins monoshock at the rear and Brembo brakes along with grippy Supercorsa SP V3 tyres wrapped around its 17-inch wheels.
The existing model of the Triumph Street Triple RS retails at Rs 11.13 lakhs (ex-showroom, India) and the 2020 version will be slightly more expensive.
