- Suzuki Katana gets a new colour option
- No mechanical changes
- Could be launched in India this year
Suzuki has taken the wraps off the Katana Red in Japan. The streetfighter sports the manufacturer’s Candy Red colour all over its minimal bodywork. While the engine, mid-section, and swingarm are finished in matte-black, the Katana’s wheels get the same Candy Red shade.
Moreover, Suzuki has adorned the Katana Red with golden fork bottles and handlebar to accentuate its look. And to add to its exclusivity, the motorcycle’s seat also gets red stitching. It is unclear whether the Katana Red is a special edition or will be sold alongside the existing Mystic Silver Metallic and Glass Sparkle Black colour options. Nevertheless, apart from the cosmetic enhancements, the Katana remains the same. It uses a 998cc, inline-four cylinder engine that produces 148bhp and 107Nm.
Suzuki showcased the Katana at the 2019 Auto Expo to gauge audience feedback. We can expect the Japanese manufacturer to launch the streetfighter in India sometime this year. By doing so, it would provide Indian customers something fresh, now that the Suzuki Hayabusa has been discontinued in the country.
