2020 KTM 200 Duke: What else can you buy?

KTM’s oldest offering in India, the 200 Duke, has received a comprehensive makeover this year. With the new styling, revised chassis and BS6-compliant engine, it has also received a substantial price hike. The 2020 KTM 200 Duke carries a price tag of Rs 1.73 lakh. Here, we tell what else you can consider if you’re willing to spend a similar amount of money on your upcoming motorcycle.

Bajaj Dominar 250: (Rs 1.60 lakh)

The Bajaj Dominar 250 is the newly-launched, smaller-version of the Dominar 400. While it boasts of a styling, features and touring-friendly ergonomics similar to its larger sibling, the engine is a differently-tuned derivative of the KTM 250 Duke’s motor. On the Dominar 250, this 248.7cc, liquid-cooled engine produces 26.6bhp and 23.5Nm. With full-LED lighting and a pair of digital displays, it is also high on features.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 250, Vitpilen 250: (Rs 1.80 lakh)

In select KTM dealerships, you’ll also find the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 posing besides the new 200 Duke. Similar to the Dominar 250, these Huskies are also powered by an engine based on the KTM’s 250cc mill. It produces 29.2bhp and 24Nm in the Svartpilen and the Vitpilen. Both the Husqvarna siblings vary in terms of styling with the former being a scrambler while the latter is a café racer.

Jawa Standard: (Rs 1.74 lakh to Rs 1.83 lakh)

Unlike the profoundly modern KTM, you can also go old-school by getting your hands on the Jawa Standard. Sporting a retro design theme, it harks back to the Jawas of the bygone era. At the same time, it packs a punchy 293cc, liquid-cooled engine which makes 27bhp and 28Nm. Although it is bare basic in terms of features, it takes care of the safety aspect with a dual-channel ABS. One can also go for the more affordable single-channel ABS variant.

Royal Enfield Himalayan: (Rs 1.87 lakh to Rs 1.91 lakh)

If you want an adventure motorcycle and are ready to pay around Rs 14,000-18,000 more than the 200 Duke’s price, the Royal Enfield Himalayan is a very capable ADV. It is powered by a torquey 411cc, air-cooled engine which pumps out 24.3bhp and 32Nm. It dimensions and hardware are suitable for off-road riding, besides being ideal for touring. Moreover, the commanding stance of the Himalayan is now complimented by a couple of jazzy colour options.
