Bajaj Platina 110 H-Gear BS6: Top 5 highlights

The Bajaj Platina 110 H-Gear has been updated to comply with the new BS6 emissions norms. The commuter offering is a more premium version of the CT110 with added tricks up its sleeves. For the prospective buyers of the bike, here are five things to know about the BS6 Platina 110 H-Gear.

Electronic injected engine

The previous carbureted motor of the Platina has now been updated with electronic injection for BS6 compliance. The 115.45cc, air-cooled engine now produces 8.44bhp and 9.Nm which is nearly identical to the performance numbers of the BS4 motor. Bajaj claims the revised engine is tuned to deliver better acceleration than before.

Five-speed gearbox

While other motorcycles in this segment come equipped with a four-speed gearbox, the Platina 110 H-Gear is the only bike with a five-speed transmission system. The extra cog aids in smoother riding on the highway. Moreover, this is accompanied by a Gear Shift Guide (GSG) in the instrument cluster which suggests the ideal gear for a particular speed in order to fetch the optimum mileage.

Premium features

The Platina 110 H-Gear is equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster, as opposed to a fully-analogue unit which can be seen in most of the bikes in this segment. Apart from the aforementioned Gear Shift Guide, this console gets a gear position indicator, clock, fuel meter, odometer, trip meter and analogue speedometer. It also gets an LED DRL along with conventional headlamp and tail lamp.

ComforTec suspension

The suspension setup of the Platina 110 is aimed at providing great comfort with spring-on-spring nitrox shock absorbers at the rear and telescopic forks up front. The suspension travel is also among the best in its class with 135mm and 110mm for the front and rear, respectively. Braking power comes from a disc-drum setup which is assisted by combined braking system.

Pricing

Bajaj has priced the BS6-compliant Platina 110 H-Gear at Rs 59,802 (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is a hike of around Rs 3,500 over the front disc version of the BS4 model. The outgoing model was also available in a drum brake variant which is no longer listed on the official website.
