- Exported 32,009 two-wheelers during April 2020

The Coronavirus Pandemic affected the sales of two-wheelers in the country. The country-wide lockdown forced manufacturers to temporarily suspend production and shut dealerships, and thus brands clocked zero-unit sales in the local markets. Bajaj Auto, too, clocked nil sales in the Indian market. In comparison, the company sold 2,05,875 units in April 2019.
During the same period, the Pune-based two-wheeler brand exported 32,009 units in April 2020 as against 1,60,393 two-wheelers in April last year. The company also exported 5,869 three-wheelers in April 2020 as against 30,818 units in the corresponding month last year.
The sales are not likely to gain momentum due to the lockdown extension. The lockdown in the country has been extended until 17 May 2020. Apart from Bajaj Auto, brands like Royal Enfield, TVS Motor Company and Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, too, have reported zero-unit sales in the Indian market.
In other updates, Bajaj Auto has updated its product portfolio to comply with the BS6 emission norms. The company has also removed models such as the Avenger Street 220 and the Discover range from its India website.
