Royal Enfield is believed to be working on multiple new models, one of which has been christened the Meteor 350. It was recently spotted undisguised, adorning a bright orange paint scheme suspected to be called the ‘Fireball.’ To make things further interesting, spy shots of another upcoming Royal Enfield have surfaced online which was undergoing test runs near the company’s manufacturing facility in Chennai. 

This roadster-styled RE was sighted on a few occasions before, however, more details can be fetched from these new pictures. Despite the body panels being camouflaged, it is clear that it sports a traditional peanut-shaped fuel tank with a triangular under-seat panel. What’s uncommon for an RE is its long, sweeping rear fender, a flat single seat, a tail lamp and turn indicators which are mounted much higher than other models. It also features a short and slightly upswept exhaust canister.

Other notable aspects of the test mule are its low seat height and slim overall structure which is in line with RE’s intentions to build lighter and more accessible models. As for the engine, it will certainly share its powerplant with the Meteor with the new ‘J’ architecture. The exact displacement of this motor is still unknown. On the feature front, it will be more modern than existing Royal Enfields, with components like LED headlamp, LCD instrument cluster and new switchgear. 

Now that we have already seen the Meteor in production-ready guise which is expected to be launched soon, the next in line from Royal Enfield could be this roadster. As for its name, rumours suggest that it will be called the Hunter, but that can be asserted only after more details surface.
