Ever since Benelli discontinued the production of the Tornado 1130 in 2014, the Italian bike maker has been out of the sportsbike game. The company’s portfolio now consists of naked, adventure, scrambler and modern classic offerings. However, that is set to change soon as a new leaked image gives us the first glimpse of the 600RR, Benelli’s upcoming fully-faired sportsbike.

As can been seen in the image, the motorcycle features a distinctively-designed fairing sporting a sharp snout with a compact twin headlamp setup. There’s also an air-intake up front with a bubble-type fairing while the fuel tank is a muscular, chiseled unit. Interestingly, the tail section of the motorcycle looks identical to the next-generation TNT 600i naked bike which was recently spotted in China. The spy shots revealed that the new TNT model will get fancy bits such as keyless ignition, backlit controls and TFT console, and the sportsbike will reportedly share the same features. 

The engine and other hardware of the motorcycle will also be the same as the TNT 600i. The 600cc, inline four cylinder motor of the 600RR will churn out around 80bhp and will be Euro5/BS6-compliant. Other leaked details about the bike have disclosed that it weighs 215kgs and incorporates Brembo brakes assisted by Bosch 9.1MB ABS. 

According to Benelli’s model plan which had surfaced on the internet a few months back, the 600RR was scheduled to be globally revealed around May or June this year. However, considering the current market disruption due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the unveiling will be delayed. Also, Benelli is focused on expanding its India portfolio aggressively which indicates that the 600RR will certainly come to our shores. And if it does, it will go up against the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Honda CBR650R.
