Suzuki Motorcycle India has announced the launch of the BS6-compliant Gixxer 250. The latest iteration of the quarter-litre naked roadster is priced at Rs 1,63,400 (ex-showroom Delhi). Here we list the top highlights of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 BS6.
Design
The BS6 model retains the styling of the BS4 motorcycle. Thus, the Gixxer 250 BS6 continues to feature a full-LED headlight at the front, an LED taillight at the back, a fully digital instrument cluster, split-style seats and a twin-muffler design. The colour options, similar to the BS4 version, include Metallic Matte Silver/Metallic Matte Black and Metallic Matte Black paints.
Engine
Suzuki Motorcycle India has upgraded the motor to comply with the newest emission norms. The BS6-compliant model continues to use a 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled motor. Despite complying with the newest emission norms, the quarter-litre engine continues to make the same power output as the BS4 motorcycle. The maximum power is rated at 26.1bhp at 9,300rpm. The peak torque, on the other hand, has dropped marginally, and the Gixxer 250 BS6 makes 22.2Nm at 7,300rpm (vs 22.6Nm at 7,500rpm). The BS6 model also retains Suzuki Easy Start System.
Hardware
Similar to the design, the hardware, too, has been carried forward from the BS4 motorcycle. Thus, the shock absorption tasks are handled by 41mm telescopic forks at the front and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock. Anchoring power comes from disc brakes on both wheels while the safety-net includes dual-channel ABS.
Competition and Price
The Suzuki Gixxer 250 BS6 has been priced at Rs 1,63,400 (ex-showroom Delhi). In comparison, its predecessor was sold for Rs 1,59,800 (ex-showroom Delhi). The quarter-litre naked roadster from Suzuki rivals the likes of Yamaha FZ25 and the Bajaj Dominar 250. The new Dominar 250 is already available for sale while the FZ25 is scheduled to be launched very soon.
