- A2-compliant XSR900 in the works
- Will offer under 47bhp
- India launch unlikely
Yamaha took the wraps off the full-fat XSR900 with heavy updates for 2022, at the beginning of this year. And now, the Japanese manufacturer is set to launch a low powered, A2-compliant model in Europe.
While details about the motorcycle are scarce, it will offer under 47bhp to comply with the norms, making it accessible to A2-license holders. However, the engine displacement is likely to remain the same at 889cc. That said, this version of the Yamaha XSR900 could receive cost-effective hardware in terms of brakes and suspension too. Further, the option to bump up the power later on is a possibility too.
Nonetheless, the A2-license compliant Yamaha XSR900 is a great way to include new riders into the brand. Even its rival, the Suzuki GSX-950S received its low-powered version in international markets recently. However, none of these low-powered motorcycles will make their way to India. Instead, we can expect the full-fat versions of the same, if they do arrive.
