- TVS hikes prices of the Apache RTR 160 BS6
- Both variants are now Rs 2,000 more expensive
- Competes against the Bajaj Pulsar 150 BS6
TVS Motor Company has recently increased the prices of one of its oldest-running premium commuters, the Apache RTR 160 BS6. The motorcycle is available in two variants including front disc and dual disc and both models have now become dearer by Rs 2,000. While the former is pegged at Rs 97,000, the latter costs Rs 1,00,000 (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
TVS had updated the Apache RTR 160 in accordance with the new BS6 emission norms in January 2020. The 159cc, air-cooled engine of the bike now gets a fuel-injected setup, in place of the previous carburetor. In spite of the more constrained emissions, TVS managed to increase its power output by 0.3bhp and 0.9Nm. Which means the performance figures now stand at 15.3bhp and 13.9Nm. The engine continues to be mated to a five-speed gearbox.
The styling of the Apache RTR 160 has remained majorly unchanged for years and it continued to be the same during BS6 transition as well. To add a pinch of freshness, the Hosur-based bike maker adorned it with new graphics. While the feature list too didn’t witness any significant change, it did received TVS’ GTT (Glide Through Traffic) technology for a smooth ride in traffic. Meanwhile, the cycle parts of the motorcycle have remained identical to the BS4 model.
The TVS Apache RTR 160 comes in six colour options - gloss red, matte red, black, white, blue and grey. It competes against the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar 150 and the Honda X-blade which is yet to receive the BS6 update.
