- Supercharged Bimota Tesi H2 production to commence in September 2020
- Was unveiled in November last year at the EICMA show in Milan
- Borrows its engine from the Kawasaki Ninja H2
The Italian motorcycle manufacturer, Bimota, has confirmed that its Tesi H2 exotic sportsbike will go into production in September this year. The full-fledged track testing of the bike is underway, images and videos of which had recently surfaced online.
The development was shared by the company’s spokesperson Gianluca Galasso while speaking to a media publication. The Bimota Tesi H2 was unveiled in November last year at the EICMA 2019. The unveiling was a part of the announcement of Kawasaki buying 49 per cent stake in Bimota. Although the major highlight of the Tesi is its supercharged engine borrowed from the Ninja H2, there are other aspects such as the hub-centre steering and extensive use of carbon-fibre which make it truly exotic.
An official document leaked early this year had revealed that the Tesi H2 pumps out a mammoth 228bhp of power at 11,500rpm, which is as much as the Ninja H2 makes. What’s further surprising is that at 214kg (kerb), the Tesi weighs 24kg lesser than the Ninja, courtesy of a lot of carbon-fibre. That’s despite the hefty swingarm at the front which is much heavier than a conventional setting with forks.
Bimota had planned to launch the Tesi H2 in June this year. However, the disruptions in component supply and production caused due to the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the postponement of its international debut. In September, around 20 units of the motorcycle are expected to be built with a price tag much higher than that of the Kawasaki Ninja H2.
