- Yamaha hikes prices of the MT 15 BS6 by Rs 1,000
- Pegged at Rs 1,38,900 (black and blue colour options) and Rs 1,39,900 (grey)
- Second price hike since the launch of the BS6 model
The Yamaha MT 15 BS6 has received a price hike for the second time since its launch. The first price revision was observed in March 2020, after which the MT 15 BS6 was pegged at Rs 1,38,900 (black and blue colour options) and Rs 1,39,900 (grey colour). And now, the prices have further gone up by Rs 1,000 and these trims cost Rs 1,39,900 and Rs 1,40,900, respectively.
The BS6 update has brought along minimal changes in the MT 15, including the mandatory alterations in its engine. The revised 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor of the MT 15 now produces 18.3bhp and 14.1Nm, which is a marginal drop as compared to its BS4 counterpart. It also gets a side-stand engine inhibitor now, which prevents the engine from starting if the side stand is down. Moreover, Yamaha has also equipped it with a radial tyre at the rear as standard.
The combative styling of the MT 15 has remained unchanged with predator eyes-like LED headlamp, beefy fuel tank extensions with air intakes and a svelte rear section with a compact LED tail lamp. Similar to the YZF R15 V3, the MT 15 is underpinned by a delta box frame with telescopic forks and a monoshock along with disc brakes at both ends. However, unlike the R15’s aluminum swingarm and dual-channel ABS, the MT 15 sports a box-type swingarm and single-channel ABS.
In India, the Yamaha MT 15 BS6 competes against the KTM 125 Duke BS6 which carries a price tag of Rs 1,42,266.
