- Ducati Panigale V2 India launch on 26 August
- Will replace the Panigale 959
- Likely to be priced over Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom)
Ducati has revealed that it will launch its new middle-weight supersport, the Panigale V2, on 26 August in India. The motorcycle will replace the Panigale 959 which was sold in India and it features a bunch of updates over its predecessor.
One of the most interesting aspects of the motorcycle is its styling which is nearly identical to its larger sibling, the Panigale V4. It gets menacing-looking dual pod LED headlamp sporting eyebrow-like LED DRLs. This setup is housed within an angular fairing with sharp cuts and creases which blends with the muscular fuel tank and a raked and svelte tail section. Similar to the V4, the V2 also gets a single-sided swingarm which gives it a clean look.
Powering the motorcycle is a 955cc, L-twin, Superquadro mill which is tuned to churn out 155bhp and 104Nm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox which is accompanied by a bi-directional quick shifter. Other electronic aids include a 4.3-inch TFT screen, traction control, cornering ABS, engine brake control, wheelie control and three riding modes. The hardware package of the bike is also top-notch with Showa forks up front, Sachs monoshock at the rear and Brembo brakes.
While the Ducati Panigale 959 was pegged at Rs 14.74 lakh, the pricing of the V2 will mostly go north of Rs 15 lakh mark. It will compete against the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.
