2020 Kawasaki Vulcan S BS6 launched in India at Rs 5.79 lakh

Kawasaki has launched the 2020 BS6-compliant edition of its middle-weight cruiser offering, the Vulcan S, in India. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs 5.79 lakh (ex-showroom) which makes it Rs 30,000 more expensive than the BS4 model which was pegged at Rs 5.49 lakh. 

The modern cruiser styling of the Vulcan S has been retained with an oval-shaped headlamp, peanut-shaped fuel tank, split seat and a long, swooping rear fender. However, in order to lend it a fresh appeal, Kawasaki has introduced a new Metallic Flat Raw Graystone paint scheme which looks eye-catchy with subtle red accents. 

Powering the new 2020 Vulcan S is the same 649cc, parallel-twin engine which has been tweaked to comply with the new emission norms. Surprisingly, Kawasaki hasn’t revealed the power figures of the revised engine. For reference, the BS4 iteration churns out 59.5bhp at 7,500rpm and 63Nm at 6,600rpm. 

The motorcycle also gets adjustable handlebar, seat and footpegs to match the rider’s preference. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks and a monoshock while braking is handled by a single disc at both ends. The feature list has also remained unchanged with a semi-digital instrument cluster, conventional headlamp and turn indicators and an LED tail lamp. 

In terms of displacement and styling, the Kawasaki Vulcan S BS6 sits close to the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Harley-Davidson Street 750.
