TVS has unveiled the competition bike for its One Make categories of the 2019 Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship. Although it is based on the Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0, the One Make bike gets a bunch of upgrades to make it faster and better suited for the race track. Here are the five differences between the stock Apache RTR 200 and the race bike –
Tuned engine
The One Make bike gets the same engine as the stock bike, although it does benefit from a few upgrades. The race bike gets high-lift cams, retuned carburettor and an optimised ignition system.
Tuned intake and exhaust
Even the intake and exhaust system has been upgraded. The end can is a free-flow unit, which boosts the performance as well as cuts down on the weight. Combined with the engine upgrades, the Apache RTR 200 One Make bike churns out 24bhp, which is 4bhp more than the stock bike. It is also capable of hitting 145kmph.
Stickier tyres
While the stock bike gets TVS Remora tyres, the race bike rides on Pirelli Angel CT tyres. These tyres are stickier and offer better grip as compared to the Remoras. Unlike the other upgrades over here, the Pirelli tyres are offered as optional extras even for the stock production bike.
Tuned suspension
A stock bike has to take care of potholes and broken roads, which are scenarios that a race bike never has to face. The One Make bike uses the same suspension setup as the stock bike, although it has been tuned to be stiffer and offer better handling for the race track.
Not road legal
The One Make bike misses out on the headlamp, turn indicators and mirrors. The exhaust also won’t be compliant with noise regulations. Needless to say, the Apache RTR 200 One Make bike is not road legal, and you can’t buy it either.
