The Indian market is obsessed with scooters, mainly due to the convenience and ease of use they offer. This is exemplified by the generous sales they bring for the manufacturers in India every month. Well, the first month of 2022 was no different. And in that case, we bring you the list of the top five highest-selling scooters of January, starting from the fifth one on the list.
One of the sportiest 125cc scooters, the TVS Ntorq 125, managed to clinch the fifth spot in January. It’s highly popular amongst the youth for its bassy exhaust note, punchy engine performance, and agile handling dynamics. It’s also one of the most tech-laden scooters out there with features like two riding modes, a Bluetooth-enabled console, and voice assistance.
4. Honda Dio
This has happened for the first time in the last few months that the Honda Dio outsold the TVS Ntorq 125. The Dio is essentially the Activa 6G but in sportier and more youthful clothing. With the BS6 update, it received some important changes like the inclusion of a larger 12-inch front wheel and telescopic forks. The engine, meanwhile, remains the same smooth and reliable 109.51cc unit which makes 7.65bhp and 9Nm.
The Suzuki Access 125 has long been the best-selling 125cc scooter in India. It’s easily one of the most likeable packages when it comes to family scooters majorly for its mileage, refined yet potent 125cc engine, nimble handling, and plush ride quality. It also offers a decent amount of comfort and storage space. Notably, the latest model can also be had with Bluetooth connectivity which only increases the desirability.
2. TVS Jupiter
Another TVS in this list is the 110cc Jupiter which has been retaining its position in the sales chart for a long time. Its no-nonsense design and easy usability have been attracting a massive number of buyers ever since its inception. One of its USPs is the large 12-inch wheels at both ends which makes it more stable while changing directions than most other scooters that get a 12-10-inch wheel combination.
Honda’s Activa brand has been outselling all other scooters by an incredible margin for years and the month of January was no different. The Japanese brand sold around 1.43 lakh Activas in India last month. To give you a perspective, its closest contender, the TVS Jupiter found 43,476 takers which shows the dominance the Activa enjoys. While the sales bifurcation of the 110cc and 125cc Activa models isn’t available, the Activa 6G is undoubtedly the best-selling product.
