When convenience and everyday usability are on top of the checklist for two-wheeler buyers in India, scooters are always the top preference. That’s one of the reasons for many scooters raking in impressive sales for manufacturers. And on the same note, here’s a list of the five highest-selling scooters in January 2023 in India.
5. Honda Dio
Clenching the fifth position in this list is the Honda Dio which found 18,752 takers in India in January 2023. This was a significant drop as compared to the same month last year when Honda sold 27,837 units of the Dio. For the uninitiated, it is based on the Activa 6G in terms of hardware and engine but gets a different, sportier bodywork.
4. TVS Ntorq 125
Talking about sporty scooters, the TVS Ntorq 125 registered sales of 24,362 units in January. Unlike Dio’s year-on-year sales drop, the Ntorq witnessed marginal growth over the last year. It has been popular ever since its inception mainly for its engaging performance and a plethora of features that are difficult to find in scooters, even in the much pricier ones.
3. Suzuki Access 125
Suzuki sold 45,497 units of its family scooter, the Access 125, in January and reserved the third position on this grid. This is marginally higher as compared to the corresponding month last year when 42,148 units of the scooters were sold. The Access is one of the sought-after scooters for those who want a no non-sense everyday commuter with a peppy yet fuel-efficient 125cc engine.
2. TVS Jupiter
Outselling Access 125 to a considerable extent was the TVS Jupiter. The 110cc and 125cc iterations of the Jupiter collectively fetched 54,484 customers last month. The last year’s sales, meanwhile, stood at 43,476 units. The Jupiter, mainly its 125cc version, offers great practicality with ample storage space while the rest of the aspects are also impressive.
Honda Activa
As has been the case every month for years now, the Honda Activa outsold all other scooters by a significant magnitude. And the 110cc version of the scooter, called the Activa 6G, has always been the main contributor to this feat. To be precise, Honda sold as many as 1,30,001 units of the Activa 6G and Activa 125 combined thereby enjoying the largest market share in the Indian scooter space.
