Harley-Davidson India’s touring line-up consists of the Road King, Road Glide Special and the recently launched Street Glide Special. Priced at Rs 33.53 lakhs, ex-showroom, the motorcycle follows the classic bagger style with its iconic batwing fairing and a low-slung stance. Over the standard variant, the Street Glide Special gets cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. On that note, here are the five highlights of the motorcycle.
Blacked-out treatment
While the Street Glide Special retains the same bold and muscular character of the standard Street Glide, it gets an additional blacked-out treatment for components like front forks, handlebar, fuel tank console and exhaust system. Even the engine also receives similar treatment to a large extent and this adds to the overall appeal of the motorcycle. The package is completed with black multi-spoke alloy wheels that extend towards to the edge of the rim.
Boom! Box Infotainment system
The Street Glide Special features an updated Boom! Box GTS touchscreen infotainment system that is designed for easy operation in both wet and dry conditions and with bare hands or while wearing gloves. Located just below the four-pod dials, it comes equipped with Bluetooth and voice recognition for controlling the music, navigation and phone functions.
Larger saddlebags
These saddlebags have been designed to further accentuate the motorcycle's low-slung stance. They are longer with a low profile covering a part of the blacked-out exhaust pipes.
Engine
Compared to the standard model which gets the 107 motor, the Street Glide Special is powered by the slightly larger 1,868cc Milwaukee-Eight 114 mill that registers a peak torque output of 163Nm which is 13Nm more than the former. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox.
Five colour schemes
To suit the needs of the buyer, the Street Glide Special is offered in five colour options – Vivid Black, Industrial Grey Denim, Billiard Blue, Barracuda Silver and Scorched Orange/Black. The basic Vivid Black livery is available at Rs 30.53 lakhs ex-showroom and the top-of-the-line Scorched Orange/Black has been priced at Rs 32.08 lakhs, ex-showroom.
