The Honda CBR650R is the successor to the CBR 650F which was previously sold in India. Now, the Indian arm of the Japanese bike maker has launched the 2019 CBR650R in India. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs 7.70 lakhs ex-showroom, pan India. Here are the five highlights of the 2019 Honda CBR650R.
Styling
In terms of looks, Honda has done a stellar job by taking design cues from the flagship CBR 1000RR Fireblade featuring a similar full fairing that ends with a petite tail section. The motorcycle now features a sleek full LED twin headlamp instead of a single unit and also a full digital LED instrument console comprising of a gear position indicator and a Shift Up indicator.
Weight reduction
The previous generation CBR 650F tipped the scale at 216kg. For the 2019 edition, Honda has managed to chop off 6kg from the same chassis which has resulted in the new CBR650R to weight at 210kg.
Power Output
The new-generation CBR650R continues to be powered by the same 648.72cc in-line four-cylinder liquid-cooled unit that used to power the CBR 650F. The motor now produces 86bhp at 11,500rpm which is a mere hike of just 1.8bhp as compared to the CBR650F which registered 84.2bhp at 11,000rpm. Torque output hasn’t changed much either. It now stands at 60.1Nm at 8000rpm as compared to 60.5Nm at 8500rpm.
Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)
The 2019 Honda CBR650R comes equipped with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) which maintains traction at the rear wheel on heavy acceleration preventing a slide. The system also helps in keeping the front wheel down in the case of a wheelie. The feature can be switched off per the preference of the rider.
Colour schemes
Honda retails the 2019 CBR650R with the choice of two colour options - Grand Prix Red and Gunpowder Black Metallic.
