The Hero XPulse has finally made its entry in the Indian market with a starting price of Rs 97,000. We highlight the five unique features of Hero Motocorp’s small-capacity adventure motorcycle.
LED Headlamps
Hero has equipped the XPulse with a full-LED headlamp with LED DRL; a first for any motorcycle from the company. The tail lamp too gets LED illumination. Apart from these, the XPulse gets a styling that will make it stand apart like the high-set, motocross-like mudguard and high-set exhaust.
Full-digital instrument cluster
The Hero XPulse boasts of a fully-digital, white-backlit instrument cluster that throws up information like gear position, average speed and time taken, date and service indicator along with speed, odometer and tachometer. Furthermore, the unit can be paired to a smartphone via Bluetooth for call alerts and navigation.
Engine
Powering the XPulse is the 200cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that has been tried-and-tested on the Xtreme 200R. Hero offers the motor in two variants; carburetted and fuel-injection. However, both generate 18.4bhp and 17.1Nm of torque and come mated to a five-speed gearbox.
Off-road capability
The Hero XPulse rides on spoke wheels; 21-inch in the front and 18-inch at the rear shod with dual-sport rubber sourced from CEAT. The 37mm telescopic front forks provide 190mm of travel while the rear monoshock offers 170mm of suspension travel. The XPulse offers 825mm of seat height and a high ground clearance of 220mm to enhance its off-road capability.
Pricing
Priced at Rs 97,000 for the carb variant and Rs 1.05 lakhs for the FI version, the Hero XPulse is the most-affordable adventure-touring motorcycle in India. In terms of price and displacement, the Xpulse may not have a direct rival but it does compete against the Royal Enfield Himalayan and BMW G310 GS in the country.
