Hero surprised us by launching the Xtreme 200S, the fully-faired iteration of the naked Xtreme 200R. The motorcycle is a part of the company’s ‘X‘ line-up of premium products which also includes the XPulse 200 and the 200T. Now that the Xtreme 200S is here, let’s take a glimpse at the top five highlights of the motorcycle.
Fully-faired styling
While the rear side of the Xtreme 200S is similar to its naked sibling, the front section is something that stands apart. The full-fairing boasts of an edgy design which blends well with the sculpted fuel tank, giving the motorcycle a sporty appeal. However, owing to the presence of single-piece swept-back handlebar, the ergonomics are more commuter-friendly.
Full-LED headlamp
Housed in that sporty fairing is a quirky-looking headlamp assembly which features full-LED lamps. This is accompanied by a pair of position lamps on either side. Notably, the Xtreme 200S is one of the three newly-launched Hero products to be equipped with LED headlamps for the first time.
LCD instrument cluster
Although the Xtreme 200S shares a majority of its components with the ‘R’, the fully-digital LCD instrument cluster is an all-new unit. While Bluetooth connectivity, gear position indicator and service reminder are the main highlights of this display, it also shows other information to the rider such as speed, RPM, average speed, time taken to cover a distance, two trip meters and date.
Engine
The Xtreme 200S is powered by the same engine as the Xtreme 200R. It’s a 200cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder motor which comes mated to a five-speed constant mesh gearbox. Available only with a carburetted fuelling system, it churns out 18.1bhp of power at 8000rpm and 17.1Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm.
Pricing
The Hero Xtreme 200S is priced at Rs 98,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi) which makes it one of the most affordable fully-faired motorcycles available in India. It goes up against the Suzuki Gixxer SF, which is priced similar to the Xtreme 200S, and the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 which demands a fair bit of premium over the other two bikes.
