Since its debut at the 2014 Auto Expo, the Pulsar CS400 created a lot of buzz around the Indian motorcycling fraternity. Inspired from the Ducati Diavel, the Pulsar CS400 will be the flagship Bajaj motorcycle once it’s launched in India. In this story, we tell you five things about the upcoming Pulsar CS400.
1: It’s not Pulsar CS400 anymore
That’s right! The marketing folks at Bajaj has decided to rename their flagship motorcycle to Pulsar VS400 from the Pulsar CS400. Why? Maybe because of Bajaj’s strong association to the letter ‘V’, thanks to the V15. The V15 is a success and maybe giving the same first letter to this Pulsar might help the company increase the brand value right from the day of the launch.
2: No USD
The Pulsar VS400 won’t get the upside-down front forks that we saw in the concept version two years ago. This was done to keep the costs in check, that’ll help Bajaj price this bike competitively, like they always have.
3: Power
We all knew that the Pulsar VS400 will get the KTM Duke 390's heart. But what we didn’t knew was the power figure. So finally we’ve the power numbers and it is 34.5bhp. That’s right. Bajaj has heavily detuned this single-cylinder engine from 44bhp to 34.5bhp – almost a 9.5bhp drop. Bajaj might have done this as the VS400 is more like a naked cruiser. It doesn’t need to be aggressive and fast as its Austrian sibling.
4: Launch
Very soon! Rajiv Bajaj said August is when the Pulsar VS400 will come to the market, but the exact launch date is yet to be out. But we’re expecting it to happen right at the end of this month.
5: Price
Our guess is somewhere between Rs 1.55 lakh and Rs 1.70 lakh. And yes, Bajaj would’ve an introductory price on the Pulsar VS400 at the time of the launch.
