India’s one and only Kawasaki Ninja H2R has just been delivered to an anonymous buyer. The ticket price of a whopping Rs 72 lakhs makes it a very exclusive motorcycle which is coveted by all but afforded only by a few. While most of us know about its 300bhp+ motor and self-healing paint, there are a few things that nobody knows about this fastest production bike in the world.
1: No warranties
Yes, you read that right. The Rs 72 lakh worth motorcycle is not covered under any warranty. The cost of service, repairs and maintenance is to be borne entirely by the customer. Moreover, if there’s any issue with the bike, the customer has to pay to fix it. It also applies to any defects in the bike for Kawasaki won’t bear any costs.
2: Taxes
The hefty pricing of the Ninja H2R is a result of 50 per cent custom duty levied by the Indian government. The actual cost of the bike is comparatively lower. Since it is imported from Japan as a completely-built-up (CBU) unit, the bike demands a huge premium.
3: Not road-legal
You can’t ride the H2R on the road as it’s not road-legal. The only place to see the Indian H2R in action is on the race track, and that is when the owner plans to take it, if at all.
4: Engine needs service every 15 hours of operation
The supercharged engine needs service inspections every 15 hours of operation, provided the engine has been running above 8000rpm during that time.
5: No tyre option
The Ninja H2R gets Racing Battlax V01 tyres. These tyres have specially been developed for the Ninja H2R. You can’t change the tyres as all the electronic aids like the engine brake control, quickshifter, traction control system and cornering management functions are tuned according to the standard Battlax tyres.
