Two weeks after Yamaha recalled the YZF-R3 in Japan, Yamaha India has announced that it will be recalling 902 units of the motorcycle in India. Yamaha Japan had revealed that the models affected were manufactured between 19th March, 2016 and 19th May, 2016.
The YZF-R3 recall states that the motorcycle is affected by a problem in the clutch pressure plate assembly and oil pump assembly. The recall also states that the motorcycle will be recalled under Yamaha’s factory modification campaign and fixed for free at authorised dealers. There have not been any safety issues reported in India but, Yamaha say that it is more of a preventive measure to ensure the safety of the customers.
Yamaha Japan had recalled over 15,000 smaller capacity sports bikes which were affected by similar problems. The list included 1,458 units of the YZF-R3 which were sold in Japan. Other motorcycles included in the list are the YZF-R25, MT-320 and the MT-250.
