Harley-Davidson’s EV sub-brand, LiveWire, recently unveiled its most affordable offering in the form of the S2 Del Mar Launch Edition. Only 100 units were produced as a starter and all of them have already been sold out. So, what all does the S2 Del Mar pack in to have created so much hype around it? Let’s take a closer look at the bike and find the answer.
Starting off, the LiveWire S2 Del Mar LE is nothing like the LiveWire One. Unlike its sibling’s polished and muscular bodywork with a fairly sporty riding position, the S2 Del Mar comes off as pretty rugged.
Its flat-track-inspired styling brings a fresh breeze to the EV world. Not to mention, the S2 Del Mar seems quite purposeful and livable, given its low stance. It even gets hand-painted colour options of Comet Indigo and Jasper Grey.
Then, it gets a Harley-Davidson Sportster S-like horizontal LED headlight topped by a small cowl. It’s flanked by round bulb indicators which blend well in the fascia.
LiveWire has equipped the EV with a motor powerful enough to accelerate 0-100kmph in just 3.5 seconds. The claimed power figure is around 79bhp, and the S2 Del Mar is claimed to clock about 160km in the city on a single charge.
Ready to play around the dirt, the S2 Del Mar gets a wide handlebar which should give the rider enough leverage to twiddle the bike around. Further, it gets a round fully digital instrument console and expansive switchgear layout for navigation.
LiveWire has suspended the S2 Del Mar on USD forks and an off-set preload-adjustable rear shock. The braking hardware comprises a single disc at both ends held by Brembo calipers.
The S2 Del Mar Launch Edition rides on 19-inch Magnesium wheels wrapped in DT-1 tires from Dunlop.
In the USA, the asking price for the LiveWire S2 Del Mar LE has been set to $17,699 (nearly Rs 13.67 lakh). As mentioned earlier, all the 100 units are sold out and the upcoming variant of the S2 Del Mar is likely to be more affordable.
