- New Ducati V-twin sportbike to be positioned under the Panigale V4
- Will be powered by Ducati’s Testastretta engine
- Likely to launch in early 2025
According to leaked documents filed with America’s NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), Ducati is reportedly working on a less-expensive V-twin sportbike that will sit under the Panigale V4. The motorcycle is internally known as the ‘2102 Project’ and is expected to replace the Panigale V2.
The Italian bike maker has revealed that the Superquadro-powered Ducati Panigale V2 will be discontinued in 2025. The 90-degree, V-twin Superquadro engine has been in use since 2011 and is available in various displacement capacities. The 955cc motor, used on the current-gen Panigale V2, will face the axe next year.
That said, Ducati is expected to continue with its 937cc, Testastretta engine, which is expected to power the new V-twin sportbike. This is the same engine that currently powers the Multistrada V2, SuperSport, DesertX, Hypermotard 950, and more.
This new motorcycle is expected to be less powerful and aggressive than the V2. It is also expected to be the only V-twin sportbike offering from Ducati from 2025. So, unlike the current two-pronged strategy where the company has the SuperSport 950 and the Panigale V2 on sale simultaneously, Ducati is expected to offer only one sportbike in the segment.
While it is too early to speculate about its exact engine capacity and power figures are unknown, we can expect its styling to be similar to the new Ducati Panigale V4. The new V-twin sportbike could be unveiled towards the end of 2024 or early 2025.
