The all-new 2015 BMW R1200R prototype has been spied on its test run by a German motorcycle website. The bike, introduced in 2006, will get its first upgrade over the years.
The picture of the spotted test mule isn’t clear with only half the motorcycle evident, although immediately noticeable changes are a big radiator. The current generation BMW R1200R uses an air/oil cooled setup and this large radiator might indicate at a liquid-cooled setup for the new motorcycle. The current generation motorcycle sports the radiator much lower. The headlights too look different with a little more inclination towards the oval shape over the current model’s round ones. The camouflaged fuel tank though looks similar to the current model.
The front and rear panels are all new and the rear sub-frame has been reworked along with foot-pegs for the pillion. The mounts for a top-box have been added to the new bike and the instrumentation console looks rather compact in contrast to the cylindrical pods of the current bike. The rear fender is mounted taller which houses the turn indicators. The saddle gets a split design with the pillion seat being flat as compared to the forward sloping one piece saddle on the current BMW R1200R.
