Suzuki recently unveiled the 2021 Hayabusa which comes with major updates to its styling, mechanicals and electronics. So here we tell you all there is to know about the all-new Suzuki Hayabusa.
Sharper styling
Let’s begin with the most obvious- the new styling. Suzuki has retained the silhouette of the previous generation Hayabusas while giving the new one a more aggressive appeal. Adding to the look is the full-LED lighting for the headlamp, turn signals, and the tail lamp which is styled similar to the first-gen ‘Busa.
And besides the exterior, Suzuki has also tweaked the Hayabusa’s twin-spar aluminum frame and sub-frame to reduce weight and boast of a 50:50 weight distribution.
Revised performance
Now contrary to rumours of it getting a bigger engine and a supercharger, the new Hayabusa continues to come powered by a 1340cc inline-four engine. However, this motor has been re-tuned to comply with emission norms which has resulted in a slight drop in power figures.
The new Hayabusa offer 188bhp at 9,700rpm as against the previous gen’s 194bhp. However, the 150Nm of torque which is down from 155Nm comes in earlier at 7,000rpm. The motor uses a six-speed transmission and now benefits from a two-way quickshifter as standard.
Improved electronic aids
Suzuki has also updated the new Hayabusa with riding aids like a six-axis IMU system, ride-by-wire throttle, ABS, traction control, engine brake control, anti-lift control system, active speed limiter, launch control and five riding modes. Its list also includes low RPM assist, cruise control along with slope and hill control. Moreover, the bike also comes with a TFT screen fitted between the analogue tachometer and speedometer.
India Launch plans
The new Suzuki Hayabusa will definitely be launched in India and we expect it to happen sometime in the second quarter of this year. However, unlike the previous model which was assembled in India and came with a rather affordable Rs 13.40 lakh price tag, the new motorcycle, with its complete overhaul is likely to cost around Rs 19-20 lakh and could be brought to the country as a CBU initially.
