Suzuki Motorcycle India has confirmed via its social media channels that the 2021 Hayabusa will be launched in our market very soon. While the company has confirmed the upcoming launch, it has not revealed the timeline for its arrival.
The motorcycle is already available for sale in the European market and the India-spec model will be similar to the version sold overseas. The 2021 Hayabusa has undergone a full model change for the first time in 13 years. The styling cues on the 2021 model include two-tone colours, LED headlight, a semi-digital instrument cluster, split-style saddle, and twin-sided exhaust cannisters.
The latest iteration of the motorcycle is powered by a Euro5-compliant, 1,340cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor is tuned to produce 187.7bhp at 9,700rpm and a peak torque output of 150Nm at 7,000rpm. The motor features a ride-by-wire electronic throttle system and a revised intake and exhaust mechanism. Suzuki claims that the updated motor delivers enhanced output and torque in the low-to-mid speed range.
The 2021 Hayabusa tips the weighing scale at 264kg (kerb) while the claimed fuel economy stands at 14.9kmpl. The updated model will carry a price premium over its predecessor, and we expect the 2021 Hayabusa to arrive in the Rs 16-18 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
