- Updated Aprilia SR160 launch this month
- Gets new features and styling
- Will demand a premium over current price
The all-new Aprilia SR160 has been spotted a couple of times in the past week, even reaching select dealerships that have begun accepting pre-bookings for the scooter. Now, our dealer sources have confirmed that the new SR160 will be launched in India anytime in the coming weeks.
As per the spy images and videos, we know that the updated SR160 gets a new front fascia. Gone is the curvy headlamp unit which has been replaced by a sleek and sharp-looking, full-LED headlamp. Even the handlebar cowl has been redesigned and receives air-scoops like recesses. Moreover, it will also come with split-seats that look well cushioned and a large grab rail.
Besides the cosmetic changes, Aprilia has also added a fully-digital instrument cluster to the mix. While the unit looks the same as the one on the SXR160, and whether or not it gets Bluetooth connectivity is yet to be known. However, it is a welcome change over the dated semi-digital unit from earlier.
Nevertheless, the 160cc, air-cooled, three-valve engine is likely to remain the same and offer 10.84bhp and 11.6Nm. Even the suspesnion and braking hardware are unlikely to get a major overhaul. But with the styling and feature updates, the new Sr160 will demand a premium over the previous model’s Rs 1.08 lakh ex-showroom price.
