- 2022 RC 390 to be launched in June
- Gets substantial upgrades
- Is likely to be priced at Rs 3.14 lakh
The 2022 KTM RC390’s India launch timeline has been delayed for a while now. However, the manufacturer is finally scheduled to launch the heavily updated motorcycle in the country next month.
For the new model year, the RC390 receives both mechanical and cosmetic changes. To begin with, it gets completely new bodywork that sits on a new chassis. This styling is the same as the RC125 and RC200 that is already on sale here and are derived from the now discontinued RC8. It includes a single, full-LED headlamp with turn signals integrated into the fairing, a large 13.7-litre fuel tank and a wider pillion seat.
That said, the 2022 KTM RC390 is also 3.4kg lighter than before with the new ByBre brakes and new frame saving 960gms and 1.5kg respectively. KTM has also taken the opportunity to add fully-adjustable suspension at the front while the rear can be adjusted for preload. Whether or not this is offered on the Indian-spec model is yet to be seen. However, we can expect the new list of features the 2022 RC 390 gets which includes switchable ABS, lean-angle sensitive cornering ABS and cornering traction control. It also gets the Quickshifter+ as an option.
Additionally, the 373cc single-cylinder engine now benefits from a new mapping and redesigned airbox for a higher torque output than before. As for the six-speed gearbox, it retains the slipper and assist clutch on the 2022 model too.
All of these updates are likely to bring about a hike in pricing. And if the leaked pricing of Rs 3.13 lakh is to be believed, the new RC 390 will cost a premium of Rs 36,000 over the previous model.
