- 2020 Triumph Rocket 3 R and GT unveiled

Triumph has finally taken the wraps off the production-spec version of the Rocket 3.
The bike is offered in two variants; R and GT. While the R is the roadster variant, the Rocket 3 GT is more touring-focused. Both models sport a power-cruiser design which is a stark contrast to the previous Rocket 3. It also sports twin LED-headlamps in tune with Triumph’s new styling language, a short rear end that integrates the tail lamp along with twin-slash cut exhausts that complete its appeal.
However, the two models get slightly different components that set them apart from each other. The Rocket 3 GT gets forward-set footpegs while the Rocket 3 R sports neutral-set footpegs. The Rocket 3 R offers a flat-handlebar whereas the Rocket 3 GT gets a touring-style handlebar that suits its characteristics. The GT also has a taller fly-screen, adjustable pillion footpegs, heated grips and a slightly more comfortable seat. Furthermore, it offers a pillion backrest and chrome alloys that are in contrast to the blacked-out wheels on the Rocket 3 R.
Nevertheless, both bikes are powered by a new 2500cc, inline-three cylinder engine that produces 165bhp of power and a massive 221Nm of torque. The Rocket 3 R and Rocket 3 GT are nearly 40kg lighter than their predecessor. While the Rocket 3 R weighs 291kg (dry), the Rocket 3 GT is slightly heavier with a dry weight of 294kg. In terms of cycle parts, the bikes use fully adjustable 47mm upside-down forks and a remote preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear; all sourced from Showa. Meanwhile, braking is done by Brembo callipers with dual 320mm discs in the front and a single 300mm disc at the rear.
Triumph has equipped the Rocket 3 R and Rocket 3 GT with a Bluetooth-enabled full-colour TFT dash along with four ride modes, a traction control system, cornering ABS and hill-hold control.
The British-manufacturer will globally launch the motorcycles at the 2019 EICMA. And we can expect the Rocket 3 R and the Rocket 3 GT in India by early 2020. It will directly take on the Ducati Diavel 1260 which is set to arrive in our country this month.
