- Triumph Tiger 1200 to be completely revamped
- Is likely to be introduced soon
- India launch expected by 2022
Triumph Motorcycles has released a video teasing the all-new Tiger 1200. Although the motorcycle is said to be a prototype, it looks close to production and is likely to be globally introduced in the next couple of months.
Now, the video only gives us a few glimpses of the new Tiger 1200 being ridden off-road but previous spy shots and reports have revealed a few more details of the motorcycle. And by the looks of it, Triumph seems to take on the BMW R 1250 GS in full force. To begin with, the new Tiger 1200 is likely to get a smaller 1,160cc inline-three cylinder engine from the Speed Triple RS that would be tuned to suit its ADV character.
Currently, the Tiger 1200 comes with a 1,215cc motor and has a kerb weight of around 250kg. While the engine would be smaller, it is expected to be more powerful and help the new Tiger 1200 shed some weight as well. We also know that the new Triumph Tiger 1200 would sport a new, two-arm swingarm.
As for design, the folks at Hinckley haven’t strayed far from the styling of the Tiger 900, which we tested a while ago. The front end is now more aggressive than the earlier model. Nonetheless, we wouldn’t have to wait long as the new Tiger 1200 is expected to debut soon and is likely to be launched in India by 2022.
