- Amazon, TVS sign a big deal
- iQube electric will be used for deliveries
- 10,000 EVs on road by 2025.
Amazon India and TVS have announced a long-term deal through which the American e-commerce website will use TVS electric scooters for deliveries.
Amazon has plans to include a total of 10,000 EVs in India by 2025 and this deal with TVS is a step to help it achieve that number. The company will use the iQube electric for this purpose. However, the exact variant of the iQube hasn’t been disclosed.
We can expect Amazon to purchase the entry-level models of the iQube as its delivery partners don’t need all the features. However, the riding range and fast charging time could pose a problem. But TVS could develop an iQube for Amazon that produces good riding range and performance without the fancy features.
This new development is bound to accelerate EV adoption in the country. We can expect more e-commerce brands along with food delivery apps joining hands with big OEMs like TVS in the future. But in this case, it will be interesting to see how the owners of iQube react to such news. iQube is a premium product and has a strong brand value and recall. We believe it is a good idea to launch a new brand for B2B purposes rather than using the same premium product for the delivery business.
