Apollo tyres today announced its entry into the two-wheeler tyre segment in India and unveiled the all-new Acti series of two-wheeler tyres.
These have been designed and developed at the company’s Chennai R&D centre. The company claims that the Acti series of tyres are capable of excellent dry and wet braking. They also offer high levels of cornering stability which becomes essential in Indian driving conditions. These tyres have been designed with the primary focus on grip, safety and comfort. Apollo says new age polymer-based compounds have been used. Both the tubeless and tube type tyres have a stress free casing structure with extra protection at the tread and bead area.
Apollo added that the rear tyres on the motorcycles will be available in three patterns. They will be called actiGRIP R1 and R2 (block pattern), and actiZIP R3 (directional pattern). While the block pattern covers on-off road, urban and highway usage in different climatic conditions, the directional pattern actiZIP R3 is designed for wet and dry grip on highways. Front motorcycle tyres include three designs called actiSTEER F1 (straight rib pattern) and actiZIP F2 and F3 (directional patterns). Maximum emphasis has been given to enhancing the handling, braking stability and straight line stability. Scooter tyres get two designs that have directional patterns for the front and rear called actiZIP S1 and S2. Two block patterns for the rear are also available called actiGRIP S3 and S4. Directional patterns are meant for precise steering control and cornering along with better tread mileage and road holding characteristics. Block patterns offer superior traction on most terrains like sand and muddy surfaces.
Motorcycle front tyre sizes include 2.17 in both 17 and 18 inch. Rear tyre sizes include 2.75, 3.00 and 100/90 for both 17 and 18 inch. Scooter tyres are offered in 90/100 (10 inch) and 90/90 (12 inch). Apollo’s Acti series of tyres will be available at authorised showrooms within a few days in all the major cities across the country.
