After proving its mettle in the World Superbike Championship with the previous model, Aprilia has unveiled the new 2015 RSV4 RR at the ongoing EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. Despite having established its superiority over other litre-class superbikes on the track, it seems that Aprilia didn’t want to be left behind in the 200bhp race. The new RSV4 RR has made Aprilia one of the few two-wheeler manufacturers who have a 200bhp+ production motorcycle in their line-up.
The new RSV4 RR isn’t very different to the RSV4 R in terms of looks. The front has been revised with a new fairing, new headlamps, LED parking lights and redesigned mirrors. Underneath the skin though, the new RSV4 RR has been thoroughly revised to keep it competitive in the cut-throat litre-class segment. The Italian manufacturer has been tinkering with the 999cc V4 engine so that it now produces 201bhp, which is 17bhp more than the previous model.
Aprilia has lengthened the swingarm by 14mm to improve the traction and dynamics of the new RSV4 RR. The exhaust system has been redesigned, while the Performance Ride Control (aPRC) electronics package has been recalibrated to adapt the revised engine.
The RSV4 RR is available in two paint schemes - bucine grey and black ascari. For those who want their RSV4 RRs to be faster than the rest of the crowd, Aprilia also offers a ‘Race Pack’ which includes forged aluminium wheels and Ohlins suspension. And for those who are still left wanting for more, Aprilia has also announced a special edition RSV4 RF, which will be offered with the race pack and Superpole graphics, and will be limited to 500 units.
