Aprilia had globally unveiled the RS150 and the streetfighter Tuono 150 at the 2018 Auto Expo. The manufacturer had displayed the bikes to gauge everyone’s reaction.
While Aprilia was thought to have scheduled the launch of the bikes next year, the RS 150 and Tuono 150 are likely to arrive only in 2020. Both bikes were showcased with a 150cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 18bhp and 14Nm of torque. However, they are expected to get a bump in power or a bigger capacity engine altogether.
The RS150 looks strikingly similar to its bigger sibling, the RSV4. It gets an aggressive front end with the split LED-headlamps, sharp lines throughout and a triangular pillion seat. The Tuono 150, on the other hand is the streetfighter version of the RS150 and resembles the Tuono V4 1100 which is sold in India. Both bikes ride on 40mm upside down forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Stopping power for the bike comes from a 300mm disc up front and a 218mm disc at the rear.
We can expect the Aprilia RS150 and Tuono 150 to be priced around Rs 1.3 lakh to Rs 1.4 lakh, a slight premium over its closest competitor, the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.
