This is a shocking unveil. Piaggio has unveiled possibly the most affordable Aprilia bike in India, the RS150.
The RS 150 gets its design cues from its eldest sibling, the RSV4. The fascia, the side angle and even the tail section shouts RS4V, but the size of the components are smaller. The RS150 is powered by a 150cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected motor that produces 18bhp and 14Nm of peak torque. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Interestingly, the company is offering the quickshifter as optional.
The suspension duties for the bike are taken care of by 40mm USD forks with 110mm travel up front and monoshock absorbers with 130mm travel at the rear. This Italian bike is equipped with 300mm disc with radial four-piston calipers in the front and 218m single disc with single caliper at the rear. ABS is standard.
Piaggio said they are still evaluating the Aprilia RS 150 for the Indian market. But if it does come, it will rival the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 in terms of pricing, styling and even performance. The bike looks stunning and has good performance figures too. We definitely thing the company should bring this bike to India and manufacture it here to get a competitive pricing.
