- Yamaha R3-rivalling RS 457 proceed at Rs 4.10 lakh
- Available in three colour options
- Uses a 457cc, parallel-twin engine
After much speculation and spy shots, the Aprilia RS 457 was launched in India with a competitive price tag of Rs 4.10 lakh, ex-showroom. And, the Italian manufacturer is offering the motorcycle in a choice of three colour options.
First up is the flagship Racing Stripes colour that takes inspiration from the RS-GP, Aprilia’s MotoGP machine. So it gets a black base colour with red stripes and purple highlights. The wheels are done up in black. If you want yours in stealth, there is the Prismatic Dark colour scheme that mixes dark grey and black with red on the tail section. This colour scheme on the RS 457 gets red wheels. That said, its third colour option also comes fitted with red wheels. Called Opalescent Light, the paint has red and black across the bodywork.
Now, powering the fully-faired motorcycle is a 457cc, parallel-twin engine with 47.6bhp and 43.5Nmbhp. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. As for features, the motorcycle comes with USD forks and monoshock, full-LED lighting and a TFT console. It also gets traction control and dual-channel ABS as standard.
The design is familiar and is borrowed from Aprilia's flagship RSV4. Hence, it is aggressive all over with split LED lights and a sharp tail section. However, the ergonomics are not as aggressive as its looks and is balanced to be comfortable for city riding as well. With its price tag, body shape and performance, the Aprilia RS 457 rivals the Kawasaki Ninja 400 and the Yamaha R3 that is scheduled to be launched in India soon.
