The Aprilia RS 457 has taken the sub-500cc supersport motorcycle market by storm and after our 1,000km road test, we’ve understood why it has done so. From the styling to the engine’s performance and the features on offer, the RS 457 is an unbeatable package. Here is a look at the highlights of the bike.
The Aprilia RS 457 is going to make heads turn wherever it goes. Its beautiful, Italian design has the right mix of aggression and sportiness. It's a design that looks great without trying too hard. This explains the colours that Aprilia has offered the bike with because it doesn’t need anything over the top to look good.
The RS 457’s parallel-twin engine is an absolute gem of an engine. It has a strong mid-range and great tractability in the city. It propels the bike to triple digit speeds in no time and doesn’t feel strained even when one is sitting at highway speeds, all day long. We’ve managed to extract around 23kmpl while using the throttle judiciously.
Another factor that makes the Aprilia RS 457 truly special is the handling. The aluminium frame and the preload-adjustable USD and monoshock offer a great balance between ride and handling. To add to that, the feel from the front end is clear as distilled water and that pushes your confidence in the bike to another level.
The features list is also the best in the class. You’ve got switchable ABS, traction control and TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity.
The RS 457 costs Rs 4.10 lakh, ex-showroom, and that puts it in a place where it comfortably undercuts the Yamaha R3 and the Kawasaki Ninja 500.
