- Prices to be announced at IBW
- Likely to cost around Rs. 4 lakh (ex-showroom)
- Pre-bookings are yet to commence
Putting an end to all the speculations, Aprilia India has confirmed through its social media channels that it will officially launch the new RS 457 on 8 December, 2023. The prices of the sportbike will be announced at the upcoming India Bike Week event in Goa.
This will be the Italian brand’s first made-in-India motorcycle which should help in pricing it competitively. Owing to the local production, it’s expected to be pegged close to Rs. 4 lakh which is much less than its closest rival, the Kawasaki Ninja 400 which costs Rs. 5.24 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom). Interestingly, Aprilia has already released the prices of the RS 457 in the USA and Canada where it goes up to $6,899 (Rs. 5.74 lakh) and $7,799 (Rs. 4.71 lakh), respectively.
The RS 457 takes design inspiration from its elder siblings, the RS 660 and RSV4. It looks profoundly vivacious with sharp lines and contours dominating the entire bodywork. Hiding behind its fairing is a 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin unit that produces 47bhp and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Underpinned by a twin-spar aluminium frame, it rides on 17-inch alloys that are suspended by USD forks and a monoshock. On the feature front, it’s a decent package with full LED lighting, TFT console, traction control, and a quick shifter.
The pre-bookings for the motorcycle are yet to commence and the details about its deliveries aren’t known yet. It will be available only in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, at least in the initial phase.
