The show stopper at Piaggio’s 2018 Auto Expo stall wasn’t any of the new Aprilia scooters, but an entry-level performance motorcycle, the RS150.
The Italian maker had displayed the RS150 and its naked sibling, the Touno 150, to gauge everyone’s reaction. It looks like the company has received tremendous appreciation for these two bikes and now it plans to bring one of these bikes, the RS150, to India sometime next year. This bit of information has already been passed on to most of its dealers.
The RS150 is based on the RS125 that is sold in European markets but with an all-new engine. This motor will make close to 18bhp and 14Nm of peak torque when it goes into production. However, most of the premium components like quickshifter and upside-down forks might not make it to production. This is being done to price the RS150 very competitively.
Piaggio is looking to export these new 150cc bikes to other markets from their Baramati facility. The company will start contacting its vendors soon for these bikes, so that the production-ready model can hit the production line sometime next year.
