Aprilia is set to announce the pricing of the RS457 in India this week. So before the bike is launched here, let’s tell you what to expect from the Yamaha R3 rival from Aprilia.
Aprilia RSV4-inspired design
Deriving its typing from Aprilia’s own flagship- the RSV4, the RS457 looks aggressive. The front end is sleek and comprises twin LED headlamps. On the other hand, the full fairing includes sharp lines and edges, while the rear end is upswept and comes with a split-seat setup. Aprilia is expected to offer swanky colour options with the new RS457- one of which will be white and red with red wheels.
Twin-cylinder engine
The Aprilia RS 457 is powered by a 457cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Offering 47bhp and mated to a six-speed gearbox, the motor comes with a 270-degree crank to replicate the signature RSV4 grunt. Aprilia is also likely to offer an optional quickshifter for clutchless upshifts.
Features and hardware
While the quickshifter is optional, the Aprilia RS457 comes fitted with features like ride-by-wire throttle, three-level traction control, ride modes and ABS too. It even gets a five-inch TFT screen with smartphone connectivity as standard. As for cycle parts, the Aprilia RS457 is kitted with adjutsable USD forks and a monoshock. It comes with discs at both ends, dual-channel ABS and 17-inch wheels shod with TVS Protorq Extreme tyres.
Pricing
While we won’t have to wait long for the official pricing of the new Aprilia RS457, we expect it to cost somewhere around Rs 4 lakh. Now this again is expected to be higher than the pricing of the Yamaha R3 that is set to be launched on 15 December with an expected cost of Rs 3.8 lakh, ex-showroom. However, the RS457 comes with comparatively more features than the R3 and more power too.
