- Recently unveiled in India
- Official launch to take place soon
Aprilia India has showcased the upcoming RS457 sportbike at the ongoing MotoGP event being held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The company recently unveiled the motorcycle in India with its official launch and price announcement to follow soon.
The Aprilia RS457 will be locally produced in India. It will be the brand’s most affordable sportbike for our country, sitting below the RS660 supersport. The RS457 bears an uncanny visual resemblance with its bigger 660cc sibling with a uniquely designed three-pod LED headlamp running across its front fascia. On the side, the twin-spar aluminium frame instantly catches the beholder’s attention which neatly blends with the angular fairing and a sculpted fuel tank. Despite the sporty styling, the RS457 will offer a blend of committed yet comfortable riding stance.
Propelling the RS457 is a 457cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with a 270-degree crank. It produces 47bhp of peak power and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Besides incorporating a slipper clutch, Aprilia will also offer an optional quick shifter for easy clutch-less gearshifts. Other rider aids include three-level traction control, three riding modes, ride-by-wire, and dual-channel ABS. As for the hardware, it rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by preload adjustable USD forks and a monoshock while stopping power comes from a single disc at both ends.
It is a smart move by Aprilia to showcase one of its most important products at the Indian MotoGP which has a hype of its own. It’s the pinnacle of road racing and is being held in India for the first time ever.
