- Smallest sportbike from Aprilia for India
- Likely to be priced north of Rs. 4 lakh (ex-showroom)
- Powered by a 47bhp, 457cc, twin-cylinder engine
Aprilia is all set to officially unveil its smallest sportbike for the Indian market, the RS457, today, 20 September. The motorcycle will compete against the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 400 and the KTM RC 390.
The RS457 broke covers for the international markets a few days back revealing almost all the details about the bike. It boasts an RS660-inspired bodywork with a sleek and compact three-pod LED headlamp that sits in a muscular fairing. Settled on top of its chunky aluminium main frame is a sharply chiseled fuel tank that adjoins a raked tail section. Complementing its handsome looks are modern electronic aids like a colour TFT console, a ride-by-wire throttle, three levels of traction control, riding modes, and dual-channel ABS. An optional quick shifter is also likely to be on offer.
Powering the Aprilia RS457 is a 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine that pumps out 47bhp and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that are shod with grippy TVS Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres. Suspension duties are handled by USD forks up front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Further, the stopping power comes from a single disc brake at both ends with a radially mounted calliper at the front.
The Aprilia RS457 will be locally manufactured in India and its ex-showroom price is likely to be north of Rs. 4 lakh.
