- It will be powered by the parallel-twin version of Aprilia’s V4 engine
- Expected to come in a road and race version
- The production model is likely to be unveiled at the 2019 EICMA
Aprilia showcased the unexpected RS660 supersport concept at the EICMA 2018 last month and now, the production-ready version of the bike has been spotted testing on a racetrack.
The motorcycle is based on the Aprilia RSV4 superbike in terms design as well as engine. It will basically get a twin-cylinder version of the V4 powerplant that powers the RSV4 and Tuono V4 naked bike. Although the power figures of the bike have not been revealed, it is expected to churn out 100-110bhp of power. Reportedly, this will act as the main platform for Aprilia’s future enduro and streetfighter models.
The pictures reveal two motorcycles – one being tested which is perhaps the race version while the other one parked could be the road version. The concept at the EICMA had a highly aggressive design with sleek headlamps, chiseled fairing, up-swept and sharp tail section along with several red-coloured elements. A similar design is expected to be retained on the production version.
The production model of the Aprilia RS660 is expected to be featured at next year’s EICMA. It will certainly be launched in India as well.
