- Aprilia issues recall over faulty brake pads
- Affects models built between 2017-2020
- No such recall in India yet
Aprilia has announced a recall for the RSV4 1000 and Tuono V4 1100 in the USA.
The recall affects a total of 3,287 units manufactured between 2017 and 2020. It addresses a faulty front brake pad that has been sourced from Brembo. According to the authorities, the brake pads are likely to get corroded at a faster rate than usual due to the high Nickel concentration. This would lead the pad to eventually detach from the backplate, increasing the braking distance or worse- complete brake failure.
Nonetheless, Aprilia will replace the brake pads free of cost starting from 22 May in the USA. And while there is no such recall in India as of now, we would recommend visiting your nearest dealership to check and resolve the issue.
Interestingly, Triumph recently issued a recall for the Street Triple and Tiger 1200 for the same reason in the US. It would not come as a surprise if other manufacturers using the same Brembo calipers start announcing recalls soon.
